We have a space at The Custard Factory Theatre, which seats up to 100 people on 21st and 22nd October from noon – 18:30.

Filmrats’ next event is on Thursday 18th March at new venue The Sunflower Lounge. Doors open at 7.30pm.

For those of you who have never been or know about our event, Filmrats is a multimedia evening of short films and live music, a hybrid of different creative artistry coming together to showcase their talents, enjoy music, film and to socialise.

The night is being held once a month on a Thursday evening at The Sunflower Lounge, in the heart of Birmingham. If you love music and film then Filmrats really is the best place to go!

We are always looking for more Singer/Songwriters, Bands, Poets, Comedians, Performance Artists and Short Films. If you want to showcase your talent then please get in contact!

Filmrats will also be screening the short films submitted to the 48-hour film challenge Film Dash.

Screening Classic Films at The Jekyll & Hyde

Bit of reposted news from More Canals Than Venice:

On Wednesday nights from 8pm, The Jekyll & Hyde pub will be screening classic black and white films in their gin parlour.

4th November: Brief Encounter (1945) A classic romantic drama set in 1945 during WWII in and around the fictional Milford Railway Station. Meeting a doctor, a married woman is tempted to cheat on her husband.

11th November: A Streetcar named Desire (1951) Set in the French Quarter of New Orleans during the restless years following WWII, this is the story of Blanche Debois, a fragile woman on a desperate prowl for some place in the world to call her own.

18th November: On the Waterfront (1954) Classic story of mob informers based in and around the docks of New York and New Jersey.

25th November: North by Northwest (1959) A New York advertising executive is mistaken for a government agent by a gang of spies. He gets involved in a series of misadventures and is pursued across the States by both the spies and the government.

2nd December: The Third Man (1949) An American pulp writer arrives in post WWII Vienna to discover the friend who invited him has died in mysterious circumstances.

9th December: To Kill a Mockingbird (1962) A lawyer in a racially divided Alabama town agrees to defend a young black man who is accused of raping a white woman.

All screenings are free and include free popcorn! The Jekyll and Hyde is located on Steelhouse Lane, spitting distance from Snow Hill Station.

Filmrats Halloween Horror Special – 28th October

Filmrats_Poster_OctoberFilmrats’ next event is on Wednesday 28th October and its a Halloween Special! The event is fancy dress and the theme is you have to come dressed as your favourite dead celebrity, whether it is an actor, musician or a film character – it’s totally up to you!

In addition they are only going to be showing horror shorts, so if you have made a horror film and you would like it screened in front of an appreciative audience then send them in and they will play them! The night also has some great live bands performing, but they are always looking for more Singer/Songwriters, Bands, Poets, Comedians and Performance Artists, so if you want to showcase your talent then get in contact.

Popcorn Comedy Film Night – 5th Oct, The Electric Cinema

Dice Productions, that’s us (cheeky), have been asked to bring successful London comedy film night, Popcorn Comedy, up to Birmingham.

‘Frame of Mind’ Screening at The Electric, on Aug 31st 1pm

F.O.M posterfinJolly Demon Productions are screening their film, ‘Frame of Mind’ at the Electric Cinema on Monday 31st August at 1pm

The film is about a failed filmmaker who’s life changes when a film crew start documenting and eventually dismantling his life.
